Submarine Vs. Jetboy DC - NYCG
Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album
OUR STORY THUS FAR....
Following SUBMARINE’S ill-fated 1995 recording sessions at Playground
Studios with Keith Cleversley with what would posthumously become
the album SHE DON’T LIKE THE BEE-GEES, the band decided that a
change of name was in order. At the time it was felt their new sound
which had matured in Chicago, warranted a new persona, amd so
JETBOY DC was born.
Their new sound was a stripped down amalgamation of early elemental
American musical forms. A Mulligan’s stew of infuences emanating from
the spheres of Country, Funk, Blues, early New York Punk. At the time, it
was uncertain if the Chicago Sessions would ever be released, accordingly,
many of the favorite ospring were re-appropriated, re-recorded
& re-christened for the new band, JETBOY DC.
This release aims at bridging the SUBMARINE/JETBOY DC divide. Both
NYCG & COOL HAIRED GIRL, originally SUBMARINE songs are
re-recorded as JETBOY DC. These two songs will be included on the
forthcoming JETBOY DC album entitled RELAX YER HAIR. Also included
for your listening pleasure, two SUBMARINE out-takes from the 1995
Chicago Sessions, DOWNSOUND previously unreleased, & QUEEN BEE
#2 an alternate take nds the lads trying their hand at al fresco bluegrass
banjo!
Rounding out the Single, & bringing our odyssey full circle, the original
4-track version of the iconic cornerstone track "NYCG", in all it's lo- glory.
